Cision Acquires Viralheat
Cision, a media intelligence company, has acquired Viralheat, a social media engagement platform. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Cision also recently acquired Visible Technologies to expand its social capabilities.
Viralheat's technology will power Cision's social services. This media intelligence software, which includes rich analytics, will help digital marketers and communicators improve their marketing while strengthening data-driven decision making.
"When Cision and Vocus combined, we emphasized that our customers would benefit from ongoing investments in this space," said Cision CEO Peter Granat in a statement. "This acquisition of Viralheat is a prime example of our commitment to expanding our social offering and providing innovative products and services to PR, communication, social and content marketing professionals."
Viralheat's technology will be available to Cision customers in the United States immediately. Throughout 2015, Cision will expand availability to include the Canadian, Swedish, U.K., French, and German markets. Viralheat's employees will join the Cision team, and Viralheat CEO Jeff Revoy and co-founders Raj Kadam and Vishal Sankhla will become part of Cision's senior management.
"Cision's acquisition of Viralheat is symbolic of the evolution of social media from a targeted communications channel into an essential and real-time element of every brand's public presence," Revoy said in a statement. "By becoming part of the Cision family of technologies, we can deliver a more comprehensive solution to a much larger base of global clients."
